Neues Datenangebot CILS4NEPS ab sofort verfügbar
Mit CILS4NEPS steht erstmals ein Scientific-Use-File für Forschungszwecke zur Verfügung, der Daten des Projekts Children of Immigrants Longitudinal Survey in Four European Countries mit den Daten der NEPS-Startkohorte 4 – Klasse 9 zusammenführt und harmonisiert. Die Kombination der beiden Datenquellen erschließt gänzlich neue Forschungspotenziale im Bereich der vergleichenden Bildungs- und Migrationsforschung. Unter anderem ermöglicht es CILS4NEPS, Informationen der NEPS-Startkohorte 4 für internationale Vergleiche mit England, den Niederlanden und Schweden zu nutzen.
Der im Rahmen einer Projektförderung von KonsortSWD erstellte Scientific-Use-File CILS4NEPS ist ein Gemeinschaftsprodukt des Mannheimer Zentrums für Europäische Sozialforschung (MZES, Universität Mannheim) und des Leibniz-Instituts für Bildungsverläufe (LIfBi, Bamberg). Er bietet Forschenden einen umfangreichen harmonisierten Datensatz mit 34.000 Befragten, der Informationen aus der Studie CILS4EU (Wellen 1-3) und der NEPS-Startkohorte 4 (Wellen 1-6) miteinander vereint. Damit stellt CILS4NEPS eine wertvolle Bereicherung für nationale und internationale Analysen dar, da für bestimmte (z. B. ethnische oder soziale) Gruppen sowie für bestimme Ereignisse (z. B. Übergänge in bestimmte Schul- oder Ausbildungsformen) nunmehr eine deutlich erhöhte Stichprobengröße verfügbar ist sowie eine Anschlussfähigkeit an entsprechende Daten aus England, den Niederlanden und Schweden gewährleistet ist.
Bei CILS4EU handelt es sich um eine internationale Längsschnittstudie in Deutschland, England, den Niederlanden und Schweden, welche die strukturelle, kulturelle, soziale und emotionale Integration von jungen Menschen mit und ohne Migrationshintergrund untersucht.
Im Rahmen der NEPS-Startkohorte 4 werden seit 2010 junge Menschen in Deutschland seit der 9. Jahrgangsstufe begleitet und umfangreiche Längsschnittdaten zu deren Kompetenzentwicklung und ihren Bildungsprozessen in formalen, nicht-formalen und informellen Kontexten erhoben.
Der Zugang zu den Daten von CILS4NEPS ist kostenfrei via Ferndatenverarbeitung über das Forschungsdatenzentrum des LIfBi möglich. Voraussetzung für die Nutzung der Daten sind der Abschluss einer CILS4EU-Datennutzungsvereinbarung mit der GESIS und eines NEPS-Datennutzungsvertrags mit dem LIfBi. New data package CILS4NEPS now available
CILS4NEPS is the first Scientific Use File available for research purposes that combines and harmonizes data from the Children of Immigrants Longitudinal Survey in Four European Countries project with data from the NEPS Starting Cohort 4 – Grade 9. The combination of the two data sources opens up completely new research potential in the field of educational and migration research. Among other things, CILS4NEPS makes it possible to use information from the NEPS Starting Cohort 4 for international comparisons with England, the Netherlands and Sweden.
Prepared as part of a project funded by KonsortSWD, the CILS4NEPS Scientific Use File is a joint product of the Mannheim Centre for European Social Research (MZES, University of Mannheim) and the Leibniz Institute for Educational Trajectories (LIfBi, Bamberg). It offers researchers a harmonized data set with more than 34,000 respondents that pools information from the CILS4EU study (waves 1-3) and the NEPS Starting Cohort 4 (waves 1-6). CILS4NEPS thus represents a valuable enrichment for national and international analyses, as it provides a significantly larger sample size for certain (e.g. ethnic or social) groups and for certain events (e.g. transitions to certain types of school or training) and guarantees comparability with respective data from England, the Netherlands and Sweden.
CILS4EU is an international longitudinal study in Germany, England, the Netherlands and Sweden that examines the structural, cultural, social and emotional integration of young people with and without a migration background.
Within the framework of NEPS Starting Cohort 4, young people in Germany are being followed since 2010 from the 9th grade onwards to collect comprehensive longitudinal data on their competence development and their educational processes in formal, non-formal and informal contexts.
Access to the CILS4NEPS data is possible free of charge via remote data processing through the Research Data Center at LIfBi.
