I found sometimes inconsistencies between the occurence of a variable, meaning the way in which this variable is supposedly survey, and what I find in the last SC2 SUF. This has happened in various instances, but now for example I see it in the p724101 variable, which, according to the website it should appear in almost all waves, but in the data I only see informations from the wave 5. Is this something that just happens? Should I not trust this website, or does this mean I did some mistake in the data processing?
The last published ScientificUseFile of SC2 contains correct data for the variable t724101 in the dataset pParent for waves 5, 6, 7, and 9. If you only have data for wave 5, I strongly suspect that you have already performed some kind of transformation on the dataset, which unfortunately did not produce the results you were hoping for. Could you perhaps describe what you have done with the data so far, or include a few lines of code, so that I can better assess the situation?
Unfortunately, there is another potentially confusing factor here. In waves 1-4, some survey instruments were used that were administered to several starting cohorts simultaneously. However, some questions were only asked of the students in SC4, for example, but filtered for the children in SC2. Thus, while an entry can be found in the variable search because the variable was technically part of the survey program, the dataset unfortunately only contains missing values for the corresponding waves. This is precisely the case with the variable you mentioned.
And unfortunately, the references to wave 1 and wave 11 were simply a mistake that has to be corrected.
Thank you for your quick response! Sorry when I said I only found data from the wave 5 I meant starting from the wave 5 onwards (please excuse my english ). So indeed, I see data from the waves you described (5,6,7 and 9). However, in the variable search as you mentioned, it is specified that for SC2 there should also be information for this variable in the waves 1 to 4 as well. I see now is a mistake.
